Chief Financial Controller
My Role at Ascention
As a Financial Controller, I am responsible for leading financial decisions for both Technology Services and early-stage Supply Chain Software platform. I take ownership of the year-on-year revenue with collaborations with management and accounting functions to deliver results. I hold an integral part within the leadership team to execute and deliver organisational objectives by taking accountability for aspects of financial stewardship, delivery of growth, business process and acquisitions. My role will provide strategic direction, commercial and financial advice, and the resources necessary to support delivery of those objectives. Governance responsibilities can be executed effectively to ensure all stakeholders are appropriately informed on financial matters.
How Did Your Career Develop to Lead You to Your Role with Ascention?
I started my career as an assistant accountant in a construction firm in Hong Kong. Because of my civil engineering background, I mainly involved myself in property development and construction industries, before migrating to Australia in 2011. I obtained my 1st accounting professional qualification from ACCA in the UK in 2005. Later, I furthered my study and got the HKICPA, CA and CPA Australia qualifications.
Having moved to Australia in 2011 starting as an account payable officer in a healthcare company with around 50 employees, I was promoted to be Senior Financial Accountant with a responsibility to look after the accounts in Asia Pacific Region during my 6 years tenure. I was proud of my achievement of being awarded “Employee of the Year Award” in 2016. In 2017, I moved to an ASX listed company to become a Group Accountant. My last role was in a position of Group Financial Controller and Company Secretary.
Considering Your Background, How Is Your Experience Particularly Relevant to Ascention & And Its Clients?
My working experience in private and public companies is an advantage for my role in Ascention. My background comprises of understanding the challenges for growth for a private company, requirements in statutory reporting, compliance and risk management and practical experience as a company secretary. With a strong financial team as a backbone this could guarantee Ascention providing a high quality service to our clients.
